To be eligible for a place on the ballot, a candidate must:

• be a United States citizen
• be at least 18 years old on the first day of the term to be filled at the election
• not have been determined by a final court judgment to be totally mentally incapacitated, or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote
• not have been finally convicted of a felony for which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities
• be a registered voter, and have lived in the State of Texas for at least 12 consecutive months and in the Village of Fairchilds for at least six months prior to the filing deadline

The Village of Fairchilds has not adopted eligibility requirements beyond those set by state law.
